mattiL
Perhaps the NIC (network card) needs to be plugged in to a switch to be able to auto negotiate (speed, duplex etc.) ? eddie11c
Maybe try disabling your LAN completely first. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/83044-kalyway-freezing-on-startup/#findComment-664209 Share on other sites
smd9
How would one do that if the OS won't boot and there's no option to do it in the BIOS? Is there a startup option (like -v) to be able to do that? smd9
Well, I got it to work now but I'm not sure how (kind of a last ditch effort). I think I removed the Nvidia laptop graphics drivers in the installer (I saw that it's for 7000 series cards and I have a 8600M GT) and I think I removed the network driver also and only had the sound driver installed (or maybe not, I could be wrong). In any case, playing with the drivers got it to work for me. I hope it helps the others with this problem as well.
