Hello,

I have a quick question. I have a Sony Vaio SZ1VP with 2GB of Ram (1GB in each slot).

I want to buy 2x2GB but I want to know how much Leopard can recognize. I've searched around the net

and found out that XP and Vista can only recognize 3.5GB.

Does anyone know whether OS X can make use of all 4GB cos at the moment I've got Leopard installed on my laptop.

OSX will support as much as your mobo will allow. If you have 32-bit chipset in your mobo *like on the memory controller* don't expect more then 3 gigs... Basically anything 945 *Pre Santa-Rosa* or earlier is straight out for more then 3 gig support.

probably not, its built into the chipset id think. It probably isnt software related.. although i can say on one of my motherboards it only detected 3.2 gb of ram in bios but it detected the 4gb in a 64bit os.. although idk if i was actually able to use all 4.
