Da11y Posted January 22, 2008 Share Posted January 22, 2008 Hello, I have a quick question. I have a Sony Vaio SZ1VP with 2GB of Ram (1GB in each slot). I want to buy 2x2GB but I want to know how much Leopard can recognize. I've searched around the net and found out that XP and Vista can only recognize 3.5GB. Does anyone know whether OS X can make use of all 4GB cos at the moment I've got Leopard installed on my laptop. If you have 32-bit chipset in your mobo *like on the memory controller* don't expect more then 3 gigs... Basically anything 945 *Pre Santa-Rosa* or earlier is straight out for more then 3 gig support. It probably isnt software related.. although i can say on one of my motherboards it only detected 3.2 gb of ram in bios but it detected the 4gb in a 64bit os.. although idk if i was actually able to use all 4.
