Hi,

I have a problem that is affecting both Vista and OSx86, but apparently not my Ubuntu Gutsy OS.

My laptop sometimes doesn't change fanspeed for a long while. I think it has something to deal with ACPI control. My processor can become over 90 degrees Celsius when this happens. Rebooting mostly doesn't fix the problem. It happens more with iAtkos than with Vista. As far as i know it has not happened with Ubuntu (which uses also ACPI, as i found after some googling) yet, but i don't use that OS much. I found out that it might be program related, because till now the speed always hangs while playing Trackmania Nations (0.1.8.0). I noticed that for 3 times now. My BIOS is Phoenix 1.40 and my laptop specs can be found in my sig. I checked BIOS settings and they seem to be set well. Has anyone got an idea what kind of problem it is? Can it be hardware related? Or is it just coincidence that these 2 OSes experience the fancontrol problem?

I am totally out of ideas, so any suggestion would be very much appreciated

Greetings Koen

Linux... They hacked drivers usually works better than official drivers for other OSes B)

Sorry man, I've no idea what might be wrong. If I remember right, in my iATKOS dvd there was some kext for thermal problems, you should try this. (its v1.0r2, find a ppf if yours doesn't have this kext)

Also, you may search for a bios upgrade for your laptop, search in release notes, there might be a bug at bios who have been corrected in new releases.
