retromacg3
I think I tried everything in BIOS (which is latest), regarding USB (legacy mode, boot emulation, etc). I cannot get any of my thumb drives to work on the D975XBX2 KR motherboard. They work just fine on my other hackintosh, based on the Gigabyte GA-945GCMX-S2, which works beautifully. This bad axe 2 board has 4gb ram, q6600 CPU, and is not overclocked in any way. I have tried all ports, and about 20 reboots with iatkos, kalyway, brazilmac, and older tiger disks. Disk utility sees the drive, but the label "PATCHER" is greyed out, and the error I get when I try and force a mount is... Mount Failed The disk "PATCHER" could not be mounted. It will mount if I format it with the journaled filesystem, but not as FAT16 or FAT32, either formatted in windows, or in the OSX installer disk utility. I have tried a Memorex 128mb, Memorex 1gb, and a Flydrive 1gb. Is there something I'm missing here? I plug the same thumb drive into the working Hac Leopard, and it mounts just fine, even on my real Tiger based G4. I bought this board because it was highly recommended here. Thanks in advance, I hope I'm not missing something really stupid... but it probably is the case Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/81712-cannot-mount-usb-drive-on-bad-axe-2-cannot-run-patcher-works-on-gigabyte-motherboard/ Share on other sites
retromacg3
Forgot to add, it's not ever automounted either, under /Volumes/PATCHER, or /Leopard/Volumes/PATCHER. Doing an LS in the directories, only shows the boot DVD, the Leopard drive, and two other files. justvisiting
which distro version? my usb stick works with same mb & kalyway are you trying to boot from usb keys? where/how were the usb keys formatted? what happens when you do "sudo tail -f /var/log/system.log" in a terminal window and then insert the usb key, wait a few seconds and then eject the key? retromacg3
The distro is the non efi, MBR, non vanilla, brazilmac 10.5.0, with the 10.5.1 update (my only working hackintosh or macintosh right now). Not trying to boot via USB, just using it to make patches easier for my 2nd hackintosh with the bad axe 2 board. I've formatted them as FAT, FAT32, using both Windows, and MAC OSX Leopard Disk Utility. Formatted with HFS+ under OS X, actually mounts in the 2nd machine during install. Even with HFS+, I still cannot eject and then plug back in and have it show up, unless I do it within 10-20 seconds on either machine. Thanks! (Oh, and on the Memorex ones, the light doesn't light up either, unless I rebooted with in it. Of course, if I plug it back in after ejecting within about 20 seconds it works and lights up. the FlyDrive always lights up, but never remounts past 20 sec. Neither seems to even make the hard drive on the machine get accessed, nor affect the tail command you asked about).
