Having a spot of trouble putting OSX x86 10.4.3 on my system.. (HD related)

Hello everyone.

I just recently got a new HDD, and figured I'd try and see what OSX x86 is like. I split the new drive into two partitions: one as 140gb, and the other as 10gb. The 10gb one is intended for the OSX installation.

The DVD image that I've burned is Mac OSX x86 10.4.3; 8f1111, with the Wesley Patch already on it.

I can boot off of the DVD fine, but when it gets to selecting a drive to install on, it is completely blank. Disk Utility does not reveal anything as well.

My specs are:

ASUS K8V SE Deluxe motherboard

AMD 64+ 3000 Processor

1GB of RAM

Maxtor 160GB SATA HDD (the one for the installation) and a Western Digital 120GB SATA HDD (my main one)

I noticed in the Hardware Compatibility List that it says this: K8V SE Deluxe Asus; Able to natively install onto a SATA disk using Maxxuss-patched disc. AD1980 sound works with a plist edit (see the boards); plug speakers into mic port(!?) to get sound (on left channel only). Gigabit ethernet unsupported (Marvell chipset). Everything else appears to work fine. - no

Does this mean that I have to find a patch, and apply it then re-burn? Or is there a potentially easier method to get around this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Instead of applying the Wesley patch, use the original DVD and patch it with the JaS 4.2b set. Then burn that one and try installation that way. Personally, the JaS patch says it also supports Intel SATA, and it has not worked for me. So it may or may not resolve your problem.
