revout
Hi all, Just put Kalyway 10.5.1 (vanilla kernel) on my new Hackintosh: Abit IP35-E E6600@3.3GHz 4GB OCZ BFG 7900GS OC Seagate 320GB 7200.10 Atheros-based Airlink101 wifi PCI Everything is stable and working (after an HDAPatcher job on the audio), but I'm having some funny issues w/ my wifi. I used the 10.4.5 80211Family.kext from iATKOS (which, I assume, is the same one found on all of Uphuck's releases). My Airport shows up in the menu, but it is always "turned off" (only the furthest outline shows, no bars inside). I can get it to work if I go into Diagnostics in the Network Preferences and step through the whole process of "turning on" through that menu and logging into my network. I assume this is some kind of kext loading issue or the like since the hardware works fine after this additional step. However, I'd like to find a way to automatically load my wireless without going through this same routine on every reboot. I know, I know, I should buy a real Mac, but it seems like $1,500 is quite a bit to pay for this step to be done for me Anybody got any tips on this? WallStreetVH
Were you able to figure anything out on this - I have the same PCI card. revout
Sorry, WallStreetVH. I didn't get anywhere with my card. I ended up throwing it in an Ubuntu box (that Atheros makes wifi painless in that OS) and picking up an Asus WL-138g V2 (per the wiki). Did a clean Kalyway install (without touching any networking kexts in the options) and the card show us immediately as a third-party Airport. Got mine for 20 and change from Newegg. I didn't spend time hunting down a deal since I was frustrated and wanted to get on with things; you can probably do a bit better if you're wanting to play detective. $20 was totally worth it IMO to get my Hack working and wireless. Hope this helps you out. I was expecting a fix to be posted the day my new card came, but I held off on replacing my X1300 Mobility with that same fear and I'm still stuck in 1024x768 VESA on that machine Were you able to figure anything out on this - I have the same PCI card.
