KENNYB
I'm not quite sure what happened to my os x install. Two events coincide with the dreaded "waiting for root device." First, i did the nforce3 fix to speed up hard drive access. It was working and made a huge difference. I remember rebooting at least twice before going back to xp. The next time tried to access my mac drive using windows explorer i got a permission denied error. It turns out that MacDrive expired. I don't remember if i immediately uninstalled it,(i did uninstall eventually) but the next time i tried to boot into os x i got the waiting for root device error. I was able to boot at least twice into OS X after the nf3 fix, but not after having MacDrive expire on me. It had to be the nf3 fix. I'm not alone in getting a waiting for root device error. equinox
Get vmware and boot your partition. That will use the generic ata driver. All I did on that nforce 3 driver is put my ide controller device id in the source and recompile it. It should work fine. I have had it going with no problems. Do you mean you're forcing the generic ATA driver to match with your nForce3 IDE deviceId? got issues with my nForce3, but works fine as long as I start up in x86pc mode. Beware of MacDrive, some had problems after accesing their disks with it, is better to use VMWare.
