Has anyone figured this out yet?

Has anyone figured out how to solve the "waiting for root device" error when trying to install to a SATA hard drive from a SATA DVD drive?  I'm trying to get Leopard on here and no matter what switches I use (are there any I'm missing?) and no matter what BIOS config I use, it doesn't work.  I don't have jumpers or anything since it's an SATA drive and I've searched for other posts but none really have answers.  Anyone got this?

If you can't find that in your BIOS, then I guess you're stuck with me and the "Still waiting for root device" message...

Will somebody please give me a hint here? If the installation DVD can recognize my SATA drives, why can't my installed Leo do the same thing?

Installing from a SATA DVD drive to my SATA Hard Drive was the ONLY way I got it to work. Make sure you have AHCI enable in your BIOS (sorry, IDE doesn't work). Also, your DVD drive had to be on SATA port 0 and the hard drive has to be on SATA port 1 (I think that's the way...if not reverse it...but I do know it has to be port 0 and port 1...for some reason it won't install on anything different). I had to buy a SATA DVD drive to even get it to work...IDE won't see the SATA hard drive. Good luck!

Have(had) the same problem on my Dell, with xxx 10.4.11I installed it from another version of MACOS that could boot, onto a second hdd and immediately went and edited the kext file for the IHC8R as to have mi Id in it and it booted perfect

Iatkos original only boots with the RAID setting on OFF or AUTO but if you do the v2 patch it will boot normal

I had that problem with my Dell E520And I did not want to change Bios to AHCI, as then I would have to reinstall XP & Vista.macdotnub and kalyway 10.4.10 did boot natively in raid mode. I used them to copy Leo install DVD to USB drive, then edited kexts to make it boot.Guide posted here:(Your device ids are likely different)http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=510839

Because Leo installs its own kexts. You have to edit twice.First to edit the kexts on installation media to make it boot.Second to edit installed kexts on Leo so it too will boot.
