diablo9
somewhere I read that only Conroe series CPU can use vanilla kernel in Kalyway (in customization, choose both options on the first item). I saw a few posts in HCL thread mentioned they used Pentium E2140 CPU. Can someone confirm if I should choose these 2 options? thank you so much! superstition
I have installed Kalyway 10.5.1 successfully with this processor. I typed vanilla when I booted the installation disc and chose the Vanilla kernel from the GUI installer menu. Here is my topic: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=80048 The About This Mac sees the chip correctly as a 1.6 GHz Core Duo. diablo9
Hi, superstition, thanks a lot! Is it required to type vanilla when boot from installation disc to actually use vanilla kernel? or just choose vanilla kernel from GUI is OK? coz I didn't type vanilla when booting from disc. Now the installation on this old PC is done. Am I using vanilla kernel? superstition
I don't know if it's necessary or not. I actually have been typing vanilla for every boot, too. You can check the kernel version using "uname -a" in terminal.
