well, I would not call this complete success. maybe working ok. QE is necessary and required by a number of apps, no wireless is kinda useless with a notebook, don't you think so? Is your sleep working?

but in any case, congrats you got it working

Ehi man, can you help me? I'm trying to install Kalyway on my Inspiron 6000. With partition magic, I created a Fat32 partition, I set it on Primary, it's the second partition after the windows on. Then i reboot, darwin starts, i put the option -v, i wait for a while and then a blue screen comes out and pc doesn't seem to work anymore. Can you help me? Did youn install only Kalyway on the hd?Or do you have windows too? Thank you very much

Hi,

Apologies for bumping this old thread, but i've recently acquired an Inspiron 6000 with BIOS version A09....

...i was wondering what BIOS version was on your I6000 when you installed 10.5.1...

You only have 2 posts though between Dec 07 and now so i'm not holding out much hope for an answer.

The qe/ci you need a GMA900 driver Just look In http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?sho...ma900&st=20

Thank you so much! I'll let you know if this works on my I6000.

----------------------------------------------------------------------

I too just got Kalyway 10.5.1 working on my I6000, but after downloading the iPC 10.5.6, iAtkos i5, Kalyway 10.5.2, iDeneb 1.3, some 10.5.6 some guy named mysticus threw together...maybe one more...

I have installed this multiple times...it's still not perfct.

Problems:

*No acceleration on video card yet. Will try Nick14's suggestion.

*I have to boot from CD. I could use some instructions to get a bootloader working. I was getting the B0 error, now I just get a blank screen with a blinking cursor in the top left hand corner after doing the fdisk -e /dev/rdisk0 / flag 1 procedure, and then the fdisk -u /dev/rdisk0 when the first fdisking around didn't work.

*I was originally hoping for a dual or tripple boot situation. I had a lot of problems with it. If any other I6000 users do this, please let me know the order you installed the OS's and the bootloaders you used. I am completely open to reinstalling.

*I have multiple wireless cards that don't work. I can put the specs up for the mini-pc that doesn't work. I'm not too worried about it right now because I do have a ZyDas 1211 USB card (Hawking HWU54G) working just fine. It did take some work to get it up...let me know if anyone needs help with this.

*The PCCard doesn't work. I've seen that their are fixes for this. Don't know if it would work with ours. Will try and update you guys as soon as I can.

*The scroll functions on the touchpad don't work. This would be nice. Haven't researched it yet.

*The multimedia keys don't work, just the sound buttons. Again, haven't looked into this, but it would be nice.

*The sleep function seems to work just fine, but it powered down from sleep at one point in the night with the adapter plugged in. I don't think that's how it's supposed to work.

*No battery icon. Will look into it. I've seen several of these.

Questions:

*Is there a way to upgrade this to 10.5.X? I would like to get it up-to-date as possible.

*How do you install different kernels? Is there some type of page like kernel.org for osX86 kernels to look at the different features and state of these different kernels?

*What's the most comprehensive source of information on different kexts, kernels, hardware, etc.? I've done a lot of googling on osx86 issues, and I am usually pointed to this forum or the osx86project.org wikis. Forums are great, but is there a site or two with this information in some organized fashion?

Thanks in advance. I know that was a mouthful.
