wuzzy
Hi all! I successfully installed 8F1111 from JaS' Version 4.2b patched DVD. Everything works great except that I can't get the native resoulution of my Samsung 213T LCD monitor to work which is 1600X1200X32@60. I have a ATI Radeon 9600 Pro 128MB which is identified by Darwin. When i try to boot with "Graphics Mode"="1600X1200X32@60" my monitor just shows an "unsuported resolution" message. The same goes for "1280X1024X32@60". Does anyone have a clue what is happening or how to fix this? Sincerley, Wuzzy
George Elliott
1600x1200 seems to be a bit of a problem resolution with ATI cards, but you should be able to get 1280x1024x32, just drop the @60 from the end of the string.
norbornano
during reboot press F8 at prompt type ?video bb = supported ba = not supported if you want to try some supported resolution type "Graphics Mode"="1600x1200x32@85" if you have VESA 3.0 "Graphics Mode"="1600x1200x32" if you have VESA 2.
wuzzy
At boot time it reports Vesa 2, which meant that I cant get more than 1280x1024 in VESA mode and that I can't force a refreshrate with the @ notation. Also, ?video reports resolutions up to 1280x1024 and nothing highger. I have the ripple effect (QE and whatnot). If i try 1280x1024x32 my screen goes blank and shows a message saying that it dowsn't support the graphics mode, which probably means that osx is setting a grapichs mode with higher refresh rate than 60 Hz which is the maximum of th LCD. The exact same thing happens if I try 1600x1200x32. A've also tried deleting all the ATI* kexts with the same results. Btw, Linux and Windows works fine with both 1280x1024 and 1600x1200 with my setup. I guess that this is a limitation that I have to live with until a newer driver i s released? Or maybe I should just buy a newer smaller screen? From what I understand from the forums, there is no graphic card that I can buy that is guaranteed to give me 1600x1200 and full hardware acceleration. Is this correct?
