Ok so I found a nice tut to install iATKOS. So I format my drive part it with GPART and pop in the disk I formated it to(mac os jl) did the darwin bootloader efi stuff and installed it. Now it boots up and it asks me if I want to tranfer any of my files that I had on an older mac I say no and hit continue. It hangs for about 30secs and goes to the start up video again where is says welcome in like a 1000 different langs. If some one can help me out that would rocks.

Sorry for my bad english

I have the same trouble where it keeps going back to the start up video again. You aren't alone, if that helps at all. I know at least 5 other people who have mentioned the same.

If I find a way around it, I will let you know.

I've seen this error come up in a few threads in these forums. The solution was to get the user data from a working installation of Tiger and then transfer from that. If you don't have Tiger installed on another machine I would suggest first installing Tiger, then copying you user data to a thumbdrive, install iATKOS and when you get to the prompt asking to transfer files plug in your thumb drive and copy the data. You should now be able to boot into iAKTOS.

How much user data is transferred? I could just have a roommate set up a fake username for me on their mac, run the migration assistant, and have it export the basically empty user profile from their leopard install (powerpc)?

thanks for the info. I'll have to give that a try. If it needs to be a tiger install I'm SOL for now. My only real mac (a mac mini running tiger) is a 6 hour drive from here.

I took a look at the migration wizard and it seems like no matter what it's going to copy all his user data and that's definitely not what I want to do. I guess I need to download another massive iso and get a clean tiger system up and running -_-

I've also read that this can be caused by having no detected network interface, which might be the case for me. It has a Broadcom 57xx gigabit ethernet card and an Intel 3945 wireless (which I know doesn't work)

thanks for the info

Well you could copy his data over to your machine, setup your own account and then delete his after you have it up and running.

thanks again for the suggestion!

Just wanted to report back that it did in fact work. I did it from a leopard machine actually. I took the hard drive that I used to put kalyway 10.5.1 on my thinkpad t42, stuck it in an external usb/firewire enclosure, hooked it up when I was at the 'transfer settings' screen and it worked great from there.

Now I can begin the 'fun' process of getting the broadcom 57xx gigabit card working

When you get to that part, unplug your keyboard and plug it back in. If that doesn't work, make sure there are no keys stuck on your keyboard :(

i've had the same problem, solved this by booting in save mode (hit F8 at Darwin boot and enter -x )

completed the first install by finishing the registration part ...

reboot and everything workes fine!

i had this same problem too once, but i know how to solve it!

go to my website

then go to 'Installing iATKOS v1.0i'

then scroll down to Step 24)

follow the instructions, and it will get you past the welcome bit,

once u log on, you will have to create a new user.
