spoonie
Asrock Conroe D667 - 1333 BFG 7600GT oC (diabolik installer - YOU GUYS ROCK!) 2 gigs ram E4600 2.4 ghz Core 2 ATA boot, ATA DVD Sata storage Kalyway 10.5.1 Everything works fine except the blasted ALC888 audio. I dont care though, because i'm using a usb soundcard. However - i DO have a question - how do i know if (and i honestly cant remember what i selected on the install) i've installed any kind of EFI, vanilla, or whatever? i know i formatted "GUID" - but that's about it I took a chance and updated the security updates, and they worked. System profiler shows: Model Name: Mac Model Identifier: Mac Pro Processor Name: Intel Core 2 Duo Processor Speed: 2.4 GHz Number Of Processors: 1 Total Number Of Cores: 2 L2 Cache: 2 MB Memory: 2 GB Bus Speed: 800 MHz Boot ROM Version: Hack.int.0sh Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxxx System Version: Mac OS X 10.5.1 (9B18) Kernel Version: Darwin 9.1.0 Boot Volume: Leopard Boot Mode: Normal Computer Name: Hackintosh User Name: Hackintosh (Hackintosh) Time since boot: 1:14 Thoughts? everything is smashing, btw. i LOVE the speed increase over my sse2 pentium, nevermind my ancient single-processor g5... spoonie
Hackintosh:~ Hackintosh$ uname -a Darwin Hackintosh.local 9.1.0 Darwin Kernel Version 9.1.0: Sat Nov 17 02:56:34 SCT 2007; made by ToH:xnu-1228.0.2~1/BUILD/obj/RELEASE_I386 i386 does that mean i skipped on going vanilla (the two checkboxes), and just went with the TOH kernel? (kalyway 10.5.1) i cant seem to re-install this cleanly on another drive without the common "constant reboot" problem. spoonie
incase anyone cares, or has the same problem, it was a single BIOS setting that had me rebooting constantly. details can be found here, thanks to DUNE31! #96 http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?s=&...st&p=545523 copied: WELL I WANT TO SUMMARIZE THINGS: BIOS SETTINGS ARE VERY IMPORTANT ! SO THIS IS A BIOS SETTING TEMPLATE : To your CPU CONFIGURATION section : MAX CPUID VALUE Limit (or similar) : Disabled Vanderpool or virtualization : Disabled CPU TM Function : Enabled Excecute Disable Bit (or called NX or XD on some mobos) : Enabled (the most important, if not enabled the result is reboot loop with vanilla kernel) To your POWER section : ACPI 2.0 Support : Enabled ACPI APIC : Enabled I had the "execute disable bit" to disabled, though in the asrock bios is was called something else. as soon as i changed it, whammo, no more constant rebooting after seeing a quick flash of the EFI text. the new install on a sata drive, from a sata DVD, GUID, vanilla. OS sees the drives (250 and 500 gig) no problems, no apparent speed issues, no compatability mode enabled, afaik.
