komman
Installed first 2 files for ATI3870 from #RadeonHD, geting distorted screen on boot . Can boot in the safe mode with -x but only 1024x768 resolution. The card is reported correctly in the system Profiler in the safe mode, but no qe/ci. Anybody has the same problem? Could this be because of the powermanagement/power play? How do I disable it? ( I do not have powermanagement kext ) Any help is greatly appreciated. My System: Gigabyte P35-DS3L 4G Ram Kali 10.5.1 w Vanila Kernel 3 SATA HD + 1 SATA DVD Burner ( all work with ACPI disabled ) Everything works except the video card. elitee
Which brand did you buy? Though it shouldn't matter, all are pretty close to the reference ATI board, which leads me to believe perhaps you forgot something?
chrisf-uk
i had this problem on my 3850 , if you just install 3870.zip file and reboot the screen is a garbled mess. you need to get the second file as well Triakis_2400_2600_2900_3800.zip since you have installed the first file and rebooted without installing the second ,then boot up with -x then install Triakis_2400_2600_2900_3800.zip this will fix your problem. sorry just read your problem again , since you say you have installed both files i would still say the Triakis_2400_2600_2900_3800.zip needs installing again or you haven't repaired permissions perhaps ? komman
Reinstalled triakis package and did: chmod -R 755 /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX2000.kext chown -R root:wheel /System/Library/Extensions/ATIRadeonX2000.kext Just in case did the same thing for Natit.kext and ATINDRV.kext Still have the same problem, screen is filled with garbage. Did I miss anything? The card is Diamond Radeon HD3870, dev id:0x95011002 Checked ATIRadeonX2000 info.plst and the dev id is listed there. What bothers me is when I start with -v, I get: 12/29/07 2:25:47 PM kernel choosed model ATI Radeon 3800 Series 12/29/07 2:25:47 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @0,compatible=ATY,Triakis 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @1,name=ATY,Triakis 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @0,display-connect-flags=0x00000400 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting ATY,Rom#=113-B2250F-207 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @0,name=ATY,Triakis 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @1,EDID=<data not shown> 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @1,compatible=ATY,Triakis 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting ATY,memsize=0x20000000 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @1,device_type=display 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting model=ATI,RadeonHD3800 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @0,device_type=display 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @0,EDID=<data not shown> 12/29/07 2:25:48 PM kernel Alkor: Setting @1,display-connect-flags=0x00000400 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting ATY,EFIVersion=01.00.207 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting ATY,EFIVersionBios=113-B22501-X22Bdsmos: Initializing... 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel dsmos: Hook and decryption contexts set! 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel dsmos: Starting... 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting ATY_EFIEnabledMode=0x00000002 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting device_type=ATY,TriakisParent 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting VRAM,totalsize=0x20000000 12/29/07 2:25:49 PM kernel Alkor: Setting AAPL,aux-power-connected=0x00000001 As you can see the memory size is not reported correctly ( or is it? ) Can anybody help? elitee
That's the right memory size. 0x20000000 in hex is ~512mb. You can use the OSX calculator to verify it by converting from hex to decimal then into megabytes.
nzouber
Yes me too, i have exactly the same problem with a club3D 3870, i tried almost everything, even changing 512 in natit to 256… But no matter what i do and how clean i do it, i get a distorted screen at boot! I have leopard iatkos on asus p5b. Could it be cause of some settings in the bios? but which one? ! i cleaned the extensions folder of all other graphic drivers, but i always get the same thing!! Please someone help me , i’m almost running out of imagination? Did someone tried the 10.5.2 new kexts??
