4 GHz oc'd quad core penryn hackintosh!

Finally got it up and running last night-- happy holidays all!

 

Used work money, so it goes in to the office for number crunching next week

Intel QX9650 Core 2 Extreme (45nm) 12MB cache

GA-P35-DS4 2.0 mobo F9 bios

Zalman 9700 cooler

8 GB DDR2 800 RAM (running at 4-4-4-4-12)

overclocked to 4GHz -- FSB 400 x 10

RAM 400 x 2

vcore upped to 1.375 (up from 1.2)

Nvidia 7300GT

 

temp stable at about 30c under load. whoa.

[well, ran CPUTest for 30min then reboot to BIOS to check PC Health Status and rarely above 31c by the time I do all that]

 

Total cost was a bit over $2k (above was $1870, plus add case/ps/keyboard/mouse/dvd/fans etc assuming you already have a monitor and retail copy of leopard)

 

EFI v8 w/GPT partition 10.5.1 vanilla (guid boot0/boot1h)

brazilmac install, no post-patch (except manual copy of dsmos.kext & AppleACPIPlatform.kext)

and pc_efi_v8 included AppleSMBIOS.kext

 

Only thing not out of box was audio-- needed ALC889a drivers

Does not restart or shut down-- but sleeps just fine (wakes with power button not mouse)

used NVInject 0.2.0 for 7300GT
