sanpedro
I want to install the Kalyway disc with GUID onto an external hard drive so I don't mess up my current Tiger and XP installs. If everything is good, I'll port it onto my laptop, but first I want to make sure that this is a viable option. If I go through this route, will it destroy my current installs, and will it be the same as installing it onto my internal drive? BJMoose
Installing Leopard on an external disk is a safe way to go. It will be the same as loading it internally depending on your connection. For example, USB will be considerably slower than eSATA. I have installed GUID Leopard on an external 2.5" eSATA drive for emergency purposes and for restoring backups and it works fine. However, there's even a performance lag between a 5400rpm 2.5" drive and a 7200rpm 3.5" drive. I haven't tried GUID on USB yet.
