roy_hu
I'm completely new to this fancy Mac world. I'm very familiar with Windows and Linux, and relatively familiar with FreeBSD. During the installation process of iATKOS, I didn't understand some of the terms but managed to finish. However, when I try to boot into Mac OS, the computer always reboots after a few seconds. I tried the verbose mode by adding the "-v" option, but the tiny letters were quickly cleared before I could read any of them. So, I'm wondering if there's a log file for me to further diagnose the problem? Also, could anyone give me some hints about what the root cause would be? Could it be the EFI emulation I selected? Or the wrong graphics driver? Thanks for your help!
reilley
I had a similar problem after selecting EFI. Once I re-instaled without EFI, it installed completely. problem is that my keyboard no longer works (notebook, and I have no USB keyboard handy - all of miune at home are wireless). roy_hu
OK, finally I managed to boot the system. After many times of trial and error, it seems that plain system w/o extra packages, drivers, or EFI is the safest configuration. A good indication of a driver error is a message showing kextd timing out on boot. Now the next step is to figure out how to install the drivers for my ethernet NIC and nvidia card.
