(Familiar?) Boot issue

So here's the deal: I have installed leopard (very) successfully on my AMD rig on a PATA drive. I adapt a kext, and my SATA drive works. The drive is the exact same size as my PATA drive.

So I copy the whole thing using the restore function in diskutil. I set the drive to active using fdisk -e. All seems well.

Until I try to boot. Then it gives me the blinking underscore.

So I try booting it from my PATA drive using "rd=disk0s1" (points to the SATA drive. I can clearly hear the noise).

I'm out of ideas. It's primary, basically exactly the same as the original drive. Except not really that bootable.

Anybody?
