mobiL ave
I know there's a lot of threads about this, but none of them are really comprehensive to me. Sorry... I'ma noob =/ My specs r: Intel DG33BU motherboard SATA 320 GB HD and another 20 GB IDE HDD Intel Core 2 Duo E6750 2.66ghz 2GB RAM NO PCIE VGA(using the GMA integrated onboard VGA) IDE DVD drive(tell me this is not the problem... cuz I've no other drive here like SATA) When I put the DVD and try to boot it, it freezes on the gray screen. After a -v boot, it stops on: "ACPI:System State [s0 S3 S4 S5] (S3)" I have never installed the OS X on my system, so I just have the .ISO of the installation HD. I've heard that replacing the applesomething.kext with the 10.4.8 one resolves this issue but I can't add and replace any kext files on my system, cuz I didn't install it yet. Well... let's assume THIS IS the problem... to replace the kext files. Ok, but... I have only WinXP and a Ubuntu LiveCD. Can't read the ISO any further. Instead, I see some little boot files(probably due to the File System incompatibility). Is there a way of replacing thekext files in the ISO(since WinXP doesn't read the hsfs, and if it could read, I still don't know how to modify a ISO... WinRAR?)? If there's any noob-guide explaining how to solve this ACPI freezing issue, please, show me a light! Using Uphuck 10.4.9 1.4r2(and tried r3, the same thing) PS: and I tried disable one cpu... nothing, messed up with BIOS and... nothing(since my BIOS doesn't let me disable ACPI) tried to boot with -s, -v, -x, platform=everythingeversaw and even -mymom option and... nothing) It works perfectly on VMWare, but It's so f*cking slow. If there's any workaround installing through VMWare, please, let me know too... thanks in advance! mobiL Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/77180-install-dvd-boot-freezing-issue/ Share on other sites

mobiL ave
Nope... I actually came here to post that I passed through the S3 state problem. The Intel GMA was replaced by a PCIE VGA, and the problem is gone. Now I'm stuck at Still waiting for root device I have a SATA HD and a IDE also. Don't know how to make it work on both, since my MB have only 1 flat cable w/ one plug, When I plug in the HD in, the bios doesn't detect the uphuck/iatkos boot DVD. Tried all jumper configurations possible and no success. I know leopard doesn't work well with PATA devices at least on the installation phase, try to install it from a a usb dvd drive, that is how I did it with the the ASUS p5b-vm se, eventually I got a SATA DVD drive and a change the motherboard for the ASUS P5K-VM and ti works excellent and greatly recommended, I used the Kalyway 10.5.1 installation and everything worked out of the box, and so far not one problem I even have digital soung out SPIDF, it just works.
