invinver
Hi 3vilution, I've been trying to get a hackintosh up and running using the BA2 board and the KALYWAY 10.5.1 install disk and I also keep running into the b0 error. I noticed that you mentioned this problem in BJMoose's otherwise great thread and that you had posted the topic here as well. Have you discovered the root of the problem? How did you solve it? (I appreciate BJMoose's suggestion to keep trying to reinstall efi v8 but it makes the left side of my brain hurt). I'd really appreciate the help -- I've been reading guides and trying various methods (weaksauce12, iguru, etc.) for something like 20+ hours now. My set up: BA2 Q6600 2.4 Ghz XFX 7600GS 512Gb 8 gigs of Crucial RAM PC2 5300 Sony OEM SATA DVD writer Seagate 320 Gb SATA HDD Again, thanks a lot! 3vilution
hi invinver, i finally figured it out! like a couple days ago. Heres what you have to do, or this is what i did: i had tiger on one hd and another blank one to install leopard. So first i booted in tiger and ran disk utility and partitioned my leo drive as GUID. then i opened up terminal and intalled efi patch, but theres a step that some people may not do when installing efi, what i was doing was just ./startupfile tool boot_V8 or whatever, but then you have to type and run this: dd if=./guid/boot1h of=/dev/rdiskXsY bs=512 count=1 and dd if=./guid/boot0 of=/dev/diskX bs=400 count=1. And after you run that, then you HAVE to active the partiton fdisk -e /dev/rdiskX, update, f 2, w, q, reboot etc. Then it worked. and it was very easy after that just install brazilmac or retail disk and your off. so good luck. invinver
3vilution, Sorry for the lack of reply and thanks -- work, like war, is hell. I followed your advice and found that if I install v8 from the shell, reboot, then install v7 from the shell, reboot, and then install v8 again from the shell I get to the point where the white screen with the gray mac logo appears, a light blue screen flashes and then I see a lonely pointer on a black field which quickly turns to the rainbow spinning beach ball cursor. The spinning beach ball hangs there forever. I am frightened that after 30 hours of trying various Terminal commands and tweaks to the BIOS that this feels like real progress from the "b0 error." But there it is. I am committed to getting this to work or building a full size trebuchet to fling my new box into orbit. So, rant over. First, did you encounter the interminable spinning beach ball after getting past the b0 error? XWing61 mentioned in the BJMoose thread that he had this problem. Second, you mentioned at the end of your kind response that once I had reactivated the guid partition that I could then install brazilmac or the retail disk. I was under the impression that KALYWAY LEOPARD 10.5.1 removed the necessity of installing either and that it produced a bootable Hackintosh. It occurs to me that, if I install either Brazilmac or retail, that I will have to go through the efi installing process again, yes? Again, thanks so much for your time and I really do appreciate the response.
