Can't boot into Leopard because of .com.apple.GeForce and .com.apple.NVDARESMAN

If you have an Nforce Motherboard there are issues with NVDAResman.kext an other Nvidia kexts.

If you know what is your DeviceID of your Graphic Card replace on the following kext, erease the rest of the device-ids.

Boot with -s option, that will let you edit some files, but you need to mount the volume first with "mount -uw /".

Edit the Info.plist of:

Geforce.kext

NVDAResman.kext

NVDANVx0Hal.kext

(x = 5 for 8x00 series, 4 for 6x00 and 7x00 series, 3 for 5x00 or FX series, 2 for 4x00 and 1 for MX or older series).

and finally Natit.kext or NVinject (whatever are you using).

It would look like this:

IOPCIPrimaryMatch

0x014110de

If this doesn't help, you need to boot with -s option and delete or move aout of the Extensions folder the NVDAResman.kext

Thanks for that answer : )

Yes, I have nForce 4 Chipset,

I used the System Profiler using the Install disc to find out my device ID, and I'm going to try it now.

It says: 0x0391 - is this valid? I don't see "de" inside of that Id, that's why I'm asking.

Are you able to boot into the OS install via safe mode? '-x' on boot-up or does it go strait to kernel panic once the initial kext are loaded (at the very beginning)....

When I've got the kernel panic at the beginning I've found out the hardway that if I burn the (ToH version) using Toast with the normal admin account it dies....

If I burn the same iso via Toast using the 'root' user (needs to enables) everything works like clock work....

Now if I can get the Apple to show and then it gives me kernel panic or a 'Need to rest power button' error meesage it could be:

1. A slightly incorrect permissions issue (like an Info.plist file who's permission is rw-rw-r instead of rw-r-r -seems Packagemaker 3.0 likes to pretend it knows more then you)

-Been able to correct this on my system by doing a repair permission from the DVD install disk

2. Multiplie kext are being loaded for one VEN/DEV ID and is causing a conflict

-Most of the time a '-x' at boot will help in this matter to narrow things down...unless it's dealing with the com.appleSMBIOS.kext or other essential drivers that are needed to get things up and running

Hope this may help alittle too
