I've been having problems getting OS X to recognize when I have something plugged into the USB port. I've loaded the PCGeneric USB kext and deleted the original apple one which worked. . .once. Is there something I have to keep doing everytime I log in, something I'm not doing correctly, or is this an ongoing problem. I've looked around, but can't really find an answer. I can get it to work ok once, but after a restart I get nothing. Same for .dmg's. It seems to be the same with different install discs as well.

I had the same problem, couldn't manage to get USB to work properly at all on my hardware. Reverted back to 10.4.8/9

Yeah, I'm posting from 10.4.9 after I installed orByte's USB kext. My wireless is USB, and I have an external drive that I keep my music on along with other imortant files, so I really need it otherwise I just can't use OS X full time. Still would love to know if there's a solution though.
