joskus
I recently acquired an aluminum 20" iMac and used Migration Assistant to move my OSX86 install over. I've done this in the past with a Macbook and had no problems. The migration went well, but now I have no sound output on the iMac. My volume icon is present on the top menu bar, and F10 - F12 graphically work properly - but no sound output at all. Headphone output is also not working. I've tried several different apps, and none have sound output. The boot chime is working fine. Before I migrated, sound was working perfectly. Has my Azalia kext somehow been moved over? Is there some easy fix for this? I'd really like to not have to reinstall my system and manually copy items over. Any help would be appreciated! Synaesthesia
You could maybe try re-installing OS X with the 'upgrade' or 'archive and install' options, which should re-install but retain all your data, apps etc... lastcosmonaut
*bump* I've got exactly the same problem. The iMac cannot distinguish internal speaker and external headphone it seems. When I connect a speaker it has only low volume. It's strange. I've updated to 10.5.6, replaced AppleHDA, removed all sorts of system-wide preferences, reset PRAM etc... with no success...
