I do not see one single Dem being asked about their religious beliefs and how their faith influences their decision making. This is NOT about being a Mormon. The difference is Romney is a Republican, whereas the mainstream media is in the tank for the Dems. And I did not know that {censored}-hating was on the Republican agenda. I missed that memo. gwprod12 Posted December 15, 2007 Share Posted December 15, 2007 I got the impression he made it to indicate to the other religious zealots in this country that they wouldn't be forced to believe in celestial marriage or have to wear a singlet. I don't think he was directing at the "media". When you ask a Democrat about their faith, their response is (invariably) "My faith is important to me, but is personal". As opposed to Republicans, who wear their religion the way Paris Hilton wears prada (On their lapel, and if you missed it, they'll be sure to remind you that it's there). The mainstream media is asking Romney about his religion? I was sure the issue came up because other Republicans are denouncing Mormonism as something akin to a cult. I don't know what you classify as "mainstream" then. Religious people care what religion you are. Non-religious people wish you weren't any religion. Or some combination thereof. It is intellectually dishonest to say "because Mike Huckabee brought up Mormonism, the media has a conspiracy against Mitt Romney". Watch the debates, which side is the side that can barely say anything but "Faith". Perhaps you can give me a few examples of "mainstream media" that have made a huge issue of Mitt Romney's faith? Glenn Beck (a mormon) and Bill O'reilly (a catholic, IIRC) both made quite... vociferous suggestions against Swearing the Oath of Office on the Koran. There are two examples right there of "mainstream media" making religion an issue. DAMNED LIBERAL MEDIA! When I say "main stream", I am refering to news sources like New York Times, Washington Post, LA Times, NBC , CNN, CBS, etc, all the media outlets where it does not matter who you listen to as they all report the news the same way, and for that mater, with almost the same words. Oh, I do recall Gulianni not wishing to discuss his religion. They care about his Mob Ties, his affairs, his spending of government money to chauffer his mistress... stuff like that. I've never seen a newspaper that takes issue with Mitt Romney's religion. Can you give an example? I should caution you, a story about Iowans who are skittish about mormons does not count. I doubt you'll find any.
