macprodan Posted January 23, 2006 Share Posted January 23, 2006 had this card for about two years now , was modded and flashed to a Pro AIW(8 Pixel Pipes) from a SE AIW(4 Pixel Pipes) woke up this morning, booted osx and noticed loads of artifacts on the screen like blocks this is mostly caused by Memory problems or damaged Pixel Pipelines.. i rekon the unlocked pixel pipes are damaged.. and i am going to unmod and re-flash it to see if it goes away... i guess ATi knew the pipes wouldnt last that long, hence they disabled them and the 9800 SE AIW was born... Shame was a Lovley card. Also, dont flash you X800XL`s anyone i did it this morning and lost the card.... lucky i had a PCI Graphics Card lying around so i could reflash back to the correct bios.. Ill have to use the lowly P4 2.53 / Radeon 9800 SE AIW if it is ok.. until i can get this X800XL working with osx in my A64 Rig.. Could you give specifics as to what you flash"ed the 800XL with that didn't work & actually munged the card?
