skyliner34 Posted January 23, 2006 Share Posted January 23, 2006 Hi, Is there an app out there other than Apples Disk Utility to format my drives.? What I want to do is this: I have an external HDD which is NTFS formatted. I want to convert it into 2 partitions leaving the first partition NTFS and having the second in Mac format. Bu Apples disk utility wants to wipe the whole drive. I have managed to get 2 partitions by using Partition Magic in Windows. But I cant get OSX to format the 2nd partition without clearing the whole drive. I hae data on the drive which I dont want to lose. Thanks Sky P.S. an utlility for Windows will do the same job. Careless Posted January 23, 2006 Share Posted January 23, 2006 i seriously recommend backing up that data if it is important. so many times ive been informed, or was sure i was doing the right thing, only to have my huge collection of music and movies erased. i dont make the same mistake now. if i have to alter a harddisk's structure, i backup everything. if it takes a spindle of DVD's and alot of my time. so be it.
