thepcdoc
When I try to transfer video off a Canon HG10 via USB within FCP or iMovie it crashes the application immediately. In iMovie the program opens and then crashes immediately with the camera plugged in. In FCP it will run but when you select Log & Transfer it crashes out immediately. Running EFI v52, Vanilla Kernel and Vanilla AppleSMBIOS.kext. Anyone have any ideas? Hyper X
If you have Perian Installed.. go into the control panel and temp disable it *uninstall* That should fix it. thepcdoc
Thanks, yes it is a HG10 using AVCHD. The post however does not seem like it has a solution, is there one? Hyper X
If you play DIVX or such in Quicktime you may have installed it and forgot. Just check your System Preferences. The other work around is to pay a few Dollars for Voltaic and that should work for you. I really appreciate the help. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74871-imovie-fcp-major-problem/#findComment-529360 Share on other sites
doug_jnr
Have you updated iMovie to 7.1? I had the same problem with 7.0 but 7.1 works well. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/74871-imovie-fcp-major-problem/#findComment-529470 Share on other sites

Click the thing in the dock that looks like a bunch of gears.. Then look under Other *It's below System*... You will see something that looks like a Red Swiss Army Knife, says Perian below it... If you have that, then THAT is your problem. Click on it and click Remove *dont worry it just disables it*. That should fix your issue.
