palt
Hey there, I do have a serious problem with my hackmack setup. My system is a C2D 1.8 GhZ 2GB RAM based system with the incredible Gigabye DS3 P965 board. I had 10.4.10 installed for months, rock solid, but suddenly it didn't boot up. So I installed 10.4.11 with the EFI patch, worked fine, at least sometimes. I figured out that sometimes my system boots up fine, everything works. But sometimes it hangs on different locations. So I have to unplug the power supply for a few seconds and then my system will boot up fine. Can anybody please tell me what the hell is going on? I would say my RAM is crashed but in this case, windows works rock solid so it should be fine. I really don't know why my OSX isn't booting sometimes. At the moment I have a fresh and clean 10.4.8 JaS install and even there happens the same. Thanks a lot! palt
no ideas? at the moment i have to unplug my power supply for about 10 seconds to get os x started. If I don't do that, I'll get a kernel panic at bootup. That's not cool to switch on and off the machine everytime I need it... Update: OS X hangs sometimes directly after the Darwin Bootloader, sometimes it boots until the login screen, sometimes it hangs inbetween the bootloader and the login screen. So there's no special point at all where I could look for an error. I ordered some different RAM today, maybe this is the bad guy, but I'm not sure, because running any memtest software result in no errors at all...
