Please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong area.

I got OS X installed today. It is version 10.4.8. After install I noticed that I have no sound.

My specs:

Compaq 510 SFF machine

Pentium 4 2.4 GHz

512 MB DDR memory

40 Gig HDD (yeah I know...)

Onboard NIC and Sound

Kyro 64 MB AGP graphics

I have searched - can't seem to find any answers. Perhaps I'm not searching correctly.

Any help would be appreciated.

You need to tell us what sound card do you have to give you precise help. At least say if its HD or AC79.

Anyway, go to this page: http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=34075

It has information about most of the supported cards.

I don't use Windows nor do I have a dual boot system. I use Linux most of the time.

I booted into Linux and found these numbers:

Product ID: 9413

Vendor ID: 32902 and 3601

My playback chipset in Linux is Intel 82801DB ICH4

Does this help? If nothing else I'm tempted to re-install Linux.

I'm still having these problems with no sound guys.

I've tried every how to I've been pointed to and some I haven't.

I try a how-to and it dosen't give me sound so I re-install and try another.

At this point I have re-installed windows.

Thanks guys but until a die-hard sulution is presented I have no choice.
