eradicator006
I just installed 10.4.3 8f1111 jas 4.2b on my asus p4c800-e deluxe. Almost everything works perfectly. There are a few small issues that I have found in the short time I used it. First off, I don't have an sse3 cpu so that is probably why I can't play DVDs. Safari, itunes, Mail all work great. When the screensaver kicks in, it works for a few minutes then it stops moving. Oh yeah I have a ati 9800pro. Quartz and coregraphics are working. For some reason my resolution is stuck at 1024x768. Profiler says my card is a VGA compatible card then below that it says Coregraphics and Quartz Extreme are supported. Is there any way to get a higher resolution? Also; the light on my floppy drive stays lit up the whole time i'm in OSX. Does this happen to anyone else? I think I might just take it out anyways...I hardly use the thing. Forgot to mention that things like sound, onboard lan and usb all work great. My pioneer DVDRW also appears to be detected properly. WilboZ
yeah....me too. This problem occurred with my X800 Pro, even though CI and QE weren't enabled. Now I'm running a X600 SE and the same screensaver "stop" thing happens, but now I have CI and QE. It sure would be nice to be able to run that x800! eradicator006
I just did some experimenting. In system profiler it tells me that the ATI9700 kext fails to load but yet QE and CI are supported. Screensavers work blazing fast. Today I moved out all ATI*.kext's to a seperate dir and rebooted. Now screensavers are super slow...maybe like 1fps. I think I'll just reinstall OSX and wait for either a final version to be uploaded or until I get a intel iMac. I did try those ATI drivers posted by JaS and had little luck with those. I've never worked with OSX until I installed it on my PC. I normally use Linux for daily things and Win XP for gaming. Since I've had the chance to use OSX; I think my next system upgrade will be a Mac. It would be perfect if I could dual boot XP or even the final version of Vista on an iMac....Then i'd be set.
