Peacemaker2000
Hello, I installed Mac OSx86 some time ago (native) on my Acer Travelmate 8005. Installation was a piece ok cake but Mac OS is terribly slow. Just getting past the boot-screen takes about 3 minutes (!!!!!) and a complete boot sequence takes up to 5 minutes (!!!!!). If the problem was only with booting I probably could take it, but the whole OS is so f**cking slow, no matter what application I try to open. The wierd thing is there is absolutly now CPU activity. I tried all of the tips in the Speed Boost section, but nothing helps... don't know know what to do. Make a benchmark with Xbench, maybe DMA is not working for your HD controler (what's your chipset?). Peacemaker2000
If I only could start xbench ... I only get an "opereation timed out" during start up. My Chipset is i855GME. Peacemaker2000
Ah man ... this is all so strange. I tried to start Xbench various times without success ... now I just took the 5mins to do another restart of the system and now Xbench is working: Results 37.90 System Info Xbench Version 1.2 System Version 10.4.1 (8B1025) Physical RAM 512 MB Model ADP2,1 Drive Type ST980829A CPU Test 26.05 GCD Loop 233.13 12.29 Mops/sec Floating Point Basic 42.20 1.00 Gflop/sec vecLib FFT 9.17 302.59 Mflop/sec Floating Point Library 60.36 10.51 Mops/sec Thread Test 82.40 Computation 72.20 1.46 Mops/sec, 4 threads Lock Contention 95.95 4.13 Mlocks/sec, 4 threads Memory Test 65.20 System 80.19 Allocate 157.46 578.24 Kalloc/sec Fill 65.11 3166.00 MB/sec Copy 63.69 1315.47 MB/sec Stream 54.94 Copy 49.98 1032.22 MB/sec Scale 50.65 1046.37 MB/sec Add 60.99 1299.19 MB/sec Triad 60.02 1284.07 MB/sec Quartz Graphics Test 63.74 Line 51.02 3.40 Klines/sec [50% alpha] Rectangle 58.69 17.52 Krects/sec [50% alpha] Circle 57.92 4.72 Kcircles/sec [50% alpha] Bezier 91.71 2.31 Kbeziers/sec [50% alpha] Text 73.36 4.59 Kchars/sec OpenGL Graphics Test 35.46 Spinning Squares 35.46 44.98 frames/sec User Interface Test 82.41 Elements 82.41 378.23 refresh/sec Disk Test 15.92 Sequential 19.14 Uncached Write 7.59 4.66 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 61.47 34.78 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 21.82 6.39 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 65.54 32.94 MB/sec [256K blocks] Random 13.63 Uncached Write 4.25 0.45 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 36.58 11.71 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 57.73 0.41 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 74.43 13.81 MB/sec [256K blocks] Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7276-terribly-slow/#findComment-45376 Share on other sites

Careless
*bump* looks like UDMA isnt enabled for your OSX install, which makes your drives perform terribly slow. Disk Test 15.92 Sequential 19.14 Uncached Write 7.59 4.66 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Write 61.47 34.78 MB/sec [256K blocks] Uncached Read 21.82 6.39 MB/sec [4K blocks] Uncached Read 65.54 32.94 MB/sec [256K blocks] that section there should be scoring atleast 40+ MB/sec for each category. i dunno what kext you have to load though. but that's your problem. Dragon
maybe it's your video card that's lagging? Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7276-terribly-slow/#findComment-46964 Share on other sites
Careless
maybe it's your video card that's lagging? no it seems to be the UDMA Kext didnt load properly. or arent the correct ones. The harddrive scores should be way higher. Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7276-terribly-slow/#findComment-46966 Share on other sites
