X-tra
My PC: Abit Fatal1ty AN8 S-ATA Maxtor 160GB AMD Athlon 64 3200+ Venice Asus EAX850XT Platinum Edition (PCIE) I tried installing Mac OS X 10.4.8 [JaS AMD-Intel-SSE2-SSE3 with PPF1 & PPF2] after booting it shows the loading screen for a while then turns black. I reckon it's something to do with my graphic card. I made some pictures of the info it shows in diagnostic booting, I also tried booting in safe mode and then the same thing happens. Any ideas help would be appreciated Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/72419-black-screen-after-mac-boots/ Share on other sites
mihelm
yeah, i had the same problem... basically, the black screen after startup means that the graphics driver isn't working with your graphics card... you need to find a driver that works, put that on a cd, boot up in single user mode and manually move the driver files into the extensions folder... it's a bit tricky if you've never used the command line before (i hadn't), but doable... no idea if there is a driver for your GPU, though... Edit: out of curiosity i had a look at the compatibility list for 10.4.8 -- there's a sapphire radeon x850xt listed... there's also a link there to a forum thread... might be a good starting point...
