basicly ive been thinking of buying a mac for a while but i wanted to try it out a little before i do to make sure i like it.

i have an inspiron 1501 and it seems like tiger should work fine on it according to this guide:

http://forum.insanelymac.com/index.php?showtopic=60924

I followed those instructions and i was able to boot in VMware but when ever i tried to boot into native it would give me a root device error or something.

Basicly im suspecting that the hardware ID is the IOATAFamily.kext is wrong because my 1501 had been downgraded to the 60gb toshiba hard drive because it was cheaper and i didnt need the extra space.

I looked in my device manager in windows and this is what it shows:

DEVICE INSTANCE ID

IDE\DISKTOSHIBA_MK6034GSX________________AH101D__\5&24CBC6AB&0&0.0.0

whats the ID for my device and how do i edit the IOATAFamily.kext ?
