L33
Trying to install 8f1111 on my PC (specs below). I've created a 10Gb partition on hda for osx as per all of the install guides. When asked to select an installation target, nothing is listed and the options button etc is greyed out Disk utility is unable to verify / repair / erase the partition: "Unable to verify - Volume needs repair" "Volume could not be repaired due to an error" "Volume erase failed: Could not write to partition map" Please can anyone help? MarkHardy
Not sure but I had some problems with the 8F1111 release (no recognized hard drive). What worked for me was to use a working 10.4.1 system to create a new partition in a new hard drive, then use teh 8F1111 patched DVD to install, where it would see the new hard drive. stoavio
I'm new to all of this as well but I'm faced with a similar situation. From what I've gathered you need to make sure the partition you created is not extended. You also need to enter the Disk Utility (which it seems you have tried to do so already) and format the parition to HFS+. I'm not sure if the interface on the hard drive makes a difference so you may want to check into that. Good luck. solaar
I had the same problem. I installed Darwin 8 to the HFS+ partition and presto! It appeared in the OSX install and then I installed OSX on top of it. To be honest I don't know exactly what overriding Darwin with OSX did but it works like a breeze. You should be able to find a Darwin CD image quite easily. The install is text based but it's all guided and straightforward. good luck sol Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/7118-cannot-install-8f1111/#findComment-107974 Share on other sites
