ChiCubs05
thanks for looking. i just need a little help before i install... here is what my setup looks like Hard Drive 1- Windows XP install (80gb) Hard Drive 2- Clean External HDD- Backup files + storage. i want to install 10.4.10 onto HDD2 so i can just select a hard drive to boot from the BIOS prompt. so hard drive one will boot windows and hdd2 will boot osx I also would like to leave some space for windows as well! how should i go about doing this, including the file systems and size? i know i need a 6.5gb partition of space for the install.... assuming that needs to be a fat32 type? thanks for all the help i can get. its really appreciated! BJMoose
Nothing wrong with your thought process, but unless you just want to observe the OSX operating system, you will want a larger partition for OSX. If you're thinking of installing any major software, like FCS2 or CS3, they will only install on the system disk. A FAT32 partition is fine for converting to HFS+ when actually installing the OS. There are several options open to you for dual booting. I preferred the chain0 method. You can google for info on that. Others choose to use either windows or linux based 3rd party bootloaders.
