Hi,

i've made an install, but then when the pc restarted it gave a Chain booting error. I'm afraid that i didn't the partition as primary, can it be that????

On other thing, after i install LEO i have to change back to SATA instead of AHCI, or Windows won't boot. Will this be a problem????

Thanx

I've got the same problem, with the ToH Leopard install DVD

it gets to the point before the installer boots, with text that showing which files and hardware are being loaded, and then just says

Waiting for root device

Waiting for root device

Waiting for root device

Waiting for root device

Waiting for root device

I've normally use AHCI mode so none of the posts above help. I've set it to 0-3 as the guide said and this doesnt help at all, infact turning this off doesnt help either! I know its a problem with the hard drive not being read by the installer, but i don't know what to do about it.

I've got good, compatible hardware

gigabtye GA-P35-DS3P

Intel core2duo 2.4 gigahertz processor

2 gigs of crucial 5300 RAM

one 500 gig samsung spinpoint hard drive

XFX ngeforce 7600 GT

gigabit 10/100/1000 PCI ethernet card

I've had no problems installing Tiger form the JaS 10.4.8 and upgrading it to 10.4.10, Patching and patching the audio, and my PCI ethernet shows up with no patches required.

will be grateful if anyone can help with this

OK, maybe we're missing the problem here. Do you have one hard drive with two partitions or 2 hard drives? If you have one hard drive, which partition is Leo on (i.e. 0s1 or 0s2)? For those people out there having trouble with the Leo install, I had no success until I used Kalyway's "Make Leopard Boot Disk" disk to prepare the hard drive before installing. Also, maybe you haven't properly post patched the Leo install. I had the constant reboot problem until I re-patched my install.

Sorry, i have 2 HDD, the first one with winXP and no partitions, the second one i have one partition for OSX, set as primary and active, the other Partition is NTFS for backups, and it's marked as Logical. By the way, i'm using TOH release.

Last night, i tried another aproach, and installed, uphuck 10.4.9 v1.3, to see if i could boot in to osx, and nothing. Now i don't have chain or hfs errors, but when i select osx nothing happens, the other backup partition also appears if i want to select it.

I know that i'm missing something, but i do not know what!!!

This pc is new, so i never installed Tiger before.

@bluefade

for TOH

maybe try to run installer > and in installer after selecting language open terminal and type

/usr/misc/script.sh your_leo_partition_name

then reeboot

it should set up your com.apple.Boot.plist or something :(

before i've change motherboard it works for me, now i am unable to install Leo on my new mobo :/ "still waiting ..."

These are my pc specs:P5K-E/WIFI-AP - Intel® P35+ ICH9R; 4 DDR2 (Dual Channel) 1066/800/667 8gb;LGA775; 1333/1066FSBIntel® Core 2 Duo E6850 3.0GHZ skt775 4mb Cache bus 1333MhzHDD 320GB 7200RPM Serial – ATAHDD 250GB 7200RPM Serial – ATA2 x DDR2 1024MB 800MHz CL5XFX Geforce 7600 GS PCI-E 256MB DDR2 DVI PCI-EDVD-ROM 16X/48X BULKDVD Recorder Supermulti 20X BULK.

Hey i'm a noob here, how do i do it?

@bluefade

asuming that you already have toh leopard instaled

run installer again, choose language of your instalation , next, on top of screen you will see menu, choose "tools>terminal'" or something similar, and type

/usr/misc like in my previous post

you can check partition name in disk utils in tools menu
