Hi. After numerous tries and failures, I merely managed to get to the "choose your language" page for the OSX installation.

At first I tried to boot it with -v but no luck so I booted it with -x

this time it works like a charm, but when I reached the destination choice section I stumbled.

I tried to go to disk utility but nothing returns.

The key is there, I clicked and nothing just returns. (Terminal and the others work fine though)

Is it part of the problem of my hard drive? (Because before this I tried to repartition this with Partition Magic, and the HD got messed up and doesn't boot my old system)

Should I reformat the HD before installing this? How could I do that?

Thank You.

i have almost the same problem except mine geos to the disk utilty and just hangs on "Gathering Hard disk Information" n jas 10.4.8

i think i am having the exact same problem that you are. i hope you find a way to fix it. if i find a way to fix this problem i will let you know.

when i try to install, it wont let me select a volume to install it to. it doesn't freeze, but it wont let me start installing it. and when i click on the disk utility it says that there is an error with my hard drive or something like that.

maybe its the version of os x that you have?

this is how i fixed my problem. i went to utility then disk utility then i selected the partition that i wanted to install mac on. then i clicked the erease tab, and seleced erease journeled and let it erease. when it finished, i closed it and was able to install mac.

but after i did that, when i tried to boot it i got this error mesage "hfs+ partition error" im not sure if its releated to that but i think there is fix for that error too. i hope this helps.
