Solidus Posted January 16, 2006 Share Posted January 16, 2006 Hey all, Been searching for days and days on how to find a way to install OS X86 on my PC, that has everything required exept a DVD drive. REQUIRED FOR THIS GUIDE:- i386 Computer with SSE2 instruction set, optional SSE3 OS X Intel DVD Image VMware Spare HDD Go to www.alcohol-soft.com and get Alcohol 52%. Let it install and reboot your computer. Make sure you have VMware installed, or get the demo ( www.vmware.com ) of VMWare workstation and install. Fire up alcohol 52%, and load into the virtual drive; your OS X intel ISO image. Now, make a new VMware CUSTOM!!!! not typical machine. Make the VM format 'New - Workstation 5', then for guest OS I selected Linux as it bears a closer similarity to OS X than windows does Use one cpu, any ammount of RAM etc. for the next series of config. NOW - Disk. Select 'Use a physical disk (for advanced users)' then select PhysicalDrive(X) where (X) = the drive number. EG PhysicalDrive1 in my case. This may work for using individual partitions as VMware allows this, but I have not tested it. Fire up VMware and away you go, OS X will boot and quite happilly install. My computer is installing via this method right now and all seems to be going well. I will post my results shortly. Must admit, OS X Intel is unbelievably fast, much faster than my 14" 1.42GHz PPC iBook anyway.
