I dont know if this will work for everyone, but I was having the same "waiting for root device" issue that a lot of people have been having.

What I eventually found out was that nero wasn't burning the image properly. It said it had burnt succesfully, and it would start to boot the mac installer, but then I would get "waiting for root device". Also, when I stuck the DVD in a mac or pc it would just show up as a blank disc, even though there was clearly data on it.

So this time when I burned the DVD (using DVD+R media) I set it for the slowest setting (4x) and checked "Verify data on disc after burning".

I burnt my cd, made sure USB 2 support, and HD audio support were disabled in the BIOS, and made sure "no execute memory protection" was turned on for my cpu and everything worked fine from there.

I don't know if this might help other people out, but the first thing to do is check to make sure your DVD is actually valid!!!

Now if I could just get it to recognize my SATA so I could install it to that drive.
