ygor
Does Intel-MacOS use the same HFS(+) drive format ? Specifically, If I have an external firewire drive running on my G4 machine, can I plug that drive into a MacIntel box and work with the data ? Thanx Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/6831-basic-question-about-hard-drive-format/ Share on other sites
guilliamo
Yes, absolutely...have done this with both Firewire and USB2 external drives. External drive will mount and show up on the desktop just like on a Cupertino-Mac. I DID have a problem with Mac OSX86 recognizing the built-in Firewire on a Gateway, but no problems with a Firewire PCI card or built-in USB2. guilliamo
This is how the card shows up in Apple System Profiler. It was just a card I pulled out of an older G3 Beige. I THINK it is an NEC chipset, but I suspect you'd have to hunt for a Firewire card that would NOT work!
