mmk236
Hello, I'm a bit new to this, but after seeing that Leopard has been cracked so it can be run on a PC, I was thinking about putting it on my 700m Dell laptop. It has a Pentiun M 745 chip, SSE2, running at 1.8ghz. I also have 768mb of ram. Will leopard run okay? I've also read about having to get rid of all the packages on the install so that it will fit on a SL DVD, can you just burn two SL dvds or would that not work? Can you add the packages back later? Sorry if this has all been discussed before, I did search and have been looking for info on this for the past few hours. Thanks a lot, Mike Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/68221-leopard-on-a-dell-700m/ Share on other sites

Thanks a lot, Mike . . you presumably came up with these (& more) search results then. Broadly, if Tiger will work - & wil have a fair idea of how well the 700M works - so will Leopard, when a suitable install DVD has been made for OSX86. The extra packages lost from the DVD9 [X11; bootcamp drivers, printer drivers, & so on] can in principle be added later. GenMatrix
I don't see how that would work, since I don't remember the Pentium M being a 64 bit processor, unless they took the to rewrite it for 32bit (the hackers that is). And make it for SSE2 emulation. Of course I could be wrong. Azeazezar
MacOS doesn't need a x64 processor, and there are ppl that got it running on a pentium M I would recomend downloading and installing a patched tiger DVD (most are SL), to try if it works. I expect that patched leo dvd's would also fit on a single layer dvd. njones133
I am trying to install Kalaway on my Dell 700m and I have been able to successfully install the program but when I boot it goes to the grey Apple screen and will never boot or if I do a custom install and select the vanilla kernel it goes into a boot loop! I am downloading Leo4All to see if that works unless someone has a suggestion! Thanks. Hi neurostatic. I have been researching info for a day or so to find out what I need to install 10.5.1 on my 700m. Would you be able to summarize your system for me (what works and what doesn't)? I'm trying to find out the latest. So far, I know that Intel wireless does not work. How are you getting around this? A 1450 Dell Wireless card off eBay, or a PCMCIA solution? Video resolution @ 1280x800 seems to be a toss up. There are so many different fixes, what worked for you? Right now the Kalyway 10.5.1 is the way to go for installing, yes? I'm still in the process of finding out everything I need to know before I attempt this. Any feedback, tips, or suggestions would be much appreciated. TIA. malibusurf
^^ There is no video fix that i know of. You can use standard VESA 4:3 resolutions with no kext loaded, but since we have 16:9 panels in the 700m its not really useful unless you hook up an external monitor. Even then you get no QE/CI.
