johnsingh07
Hey i finally got leopard but the thing is ... whenever i put in my external 500Gb Hard drive it shows on the desktop but Time Machine won't let me use it?! When i select Choose back up drive it doesn't show up:( is this due to the fact that its volume format is UNIX File System (UFS)? if so what would you guys recommend ? THANK YOU!!!! Lactobacillus P
Of course it has to do with the fact that it is in a unix filesystem. It will only work when the drive is hfs, perhaps fat32, but HFS for sure. THANK YOU!!!! . . from Apple's Time Machine page: (my emphasis) Pick a disk. Any disk. You can designate just about any HFS+ formatted FireWire or USB drive connected to a Mac as a Time Machine backup drive. Time Machine can also back up to another Mac running Leopard with Personal File Sharing, Leopard Server, or Xsan storage devices.
