My girlfriends mac book is about a month old. I have installed a handful of software and changed a few settings. With leopard is it better to have a fresh install, or would an upgrade keep all the setting and all her programs..basically the upgrade is just an upgrade un-touching what she has now?

Just upgrade it. You can do a clean install, or "archive and install", or upgrade. Upgrade should work just fine on real macs. ;)

Thanks to the modular unix architecture of Mac OS X, all the necessary files are upgraded, and your data remains intact! It's nothing like the way windows works!

I don't mean to defend MS, I actually hate windows these days, but the data remains intact when upgrading windows too. ;)

yes, it just mostly doesnt work. :(

seriously, even hardcore MS techie shudder at the thought of upgrade installs.

Yeah, but when your as Closed as apple its easy. Windows mainly has issues with drivers and hardware. But when you make an os only designed to run on 6 machines....

Also windows is very good at upgrading its all the third party junk that ruins it. Mac will be the same once it gains double figure market share. The amount of windows software eclipses osx by atleast 10:1

(Btw i run vista x64 (Maya 64bits please! - OSX ver is shocking) but also have a macbook pro and love it)
