When I hit cancel on that window, it switches the switch back to off. What am I doing wrong? The only way Time Machine will work (currently) is to have an HFS (Mac formatted) external disk plugged DIRECTLY into your Mac (not over a network) via USB or Firewire or Internal (such as a Mac Pro). You cannot use an AirDisk on an Airport Extreme base station, you cannot use a network drive from a Linux server. You CAN however also use an HFS formatted disk that's plugged into another Leopard machine and accessed via file-sharing or a Leopard server (but something tells me these two options don't apply to you). I'm assuming you don't see any backup disks because you don't have a correctly formatted drive that Time Machine can detect. manitoba98 Posted October 26, 2007 Share Posted October 26, 2007 Inquiry: in the betas, it was apparently possible to use an internal partition for Time Machine backups (I'm not sure whether or not this required .com.apple.timemachine.supported). Does this capacity remain in GM? This talk about Airport disks no longer working, etc., has me concerned.
