Macpaq Posted October 24, 2007 Share Posted October 24, 2007 Hi, I am new to insanelyMac. I recently purchased a Compaq C500 laptop. I like this laptop for it's price. Maxed it out to 2G and replace the HD w/ a 160G. I was going to install Ubuntu on it then my friend showed me his laptop with OSx86. I decided to try it out so I installed JaS.Mac.OS.X.10.4.8.AMD.Intel.SSE2.SSE3.PPF.1.Defiant.diskutil.biker880.ich7-R.patch.Integrated. I am so delighted and amazed how smooth it runs on this laptop, almost everything work, so I am writing this, hopefully someone can help me with some questions. Here is a list of what works and what not: After installation, Boots right up. KBD, Track pad works great. Display, native 1280x800, looks Fantastic! USB works great. Sound didn't work initially, but I installed Conexant HD Audio.pkg, then it works. However, the volumne seem to be on the low side and the mute button doesn't light up. (Does anyone have a cure for this?) Now the biggest headache is the wireless, it is a Broadcom 802 11b/g WLAN. I found out lot of people have the same issue, I followed many suggestions in this forum edit the plists, to no avail. (Does anyone get this issue solved?) I am thinking to replace the wireless card. Can someone recommand me a model? Since the USB works, I guess I can also use a USB wireless card, but... If anyone can help me with the above two questions, I will really appreciate it. MacPaq.
