Hi: your vidoecard [my emphasis in red] is unsupported; & your motherboard uses the ALC850 codec - see these search results for an impression of hassles/successes. Suggest you use a more recent & AMD-specific DVD - ie Tubgirl [various] or Uphuck 1.4a. shoarthing
ok, thx shoarthing . . a pleasure & good luck . . as a general case, OSX86 is much easier if you use Intel S775 & NV40 [6xxx/7xxx] NVIDIA vidcards. You still need to check the Wiki then search these forums for specific component compatibility, esp of onboard sound Link to comment https://www.insanelymac.com/forum/topic/67516-pre-requisition-for-installation/#findComment-479852 Share on other sites

E@zyVG
Before trying to install Mac OS X on separate partition, I have few questions: 1. Is my system compatibility OK: (all drivers will install, or can be found) AMD A64 o/c @2.9Ghz "Venice" - SSE2/3 DFI nForce4 Ultra based mobo 2GB DDR ATI X800 GTO2 SB Audigy 2 ZS 3 SATA drives, first two are Linux, thrid is 120GB WinXP which I would like to dual boot (OSx86 and WinXP) ... OK? 2. As of taoday, which one is the greatest to go with, until one comes out with 10.5 release. a. Jas 10.4.8 PPF1+PPF2 Intel+AMD b. Kalyway OSX86 10.4.10 (is there support for AMD processors) c. perhaps some other release which is very stable ... where to get If I end up really liking OSX I would then go for MacBook next time, dual booting with Linux Any help will be greatly appreciated .... tnx a lot. Hi - suggest you might look at Uphuck 1.4a or one of the 'Tubgirl' DVDs for AMD-based systems. These releases are AMD-specific. These forums have a search function [upper LH of each page] to look up hardware such as your X800. Also suggest you check out the HCL & HPart via the Wiki.
