Why is it when I am trying to run the install on 10.4.6.

I have the following specs

Dual Core LGA 775 1.8ghz Intel Chip

Shuttle FD30 Shuttle Mainboard

Intel 945GC express + ICH7

Award BIOS

2GB of DDR 2 Memory

Radeon X330 PCI Express Graphics card but has Onboard Intel Graphics 950

I am running 2 Sata hard disks, one Western Digital 250GB and one Maxtor 160GB.

My Xp partition is on the Maxtor disk and is installed and working ok.

I have segmented off a 30GB partition on the second disk for the Mac OSX install.

I am switching my Hard Disks so my second one take priority for installing osx.

I boot off the disk and it it gets to the grey screen with the apple and the spinning lines, then it boots to the blue screen and at this point the hard disk and the CD drive light up like there is activity......... then nothing. No mouse cursor.

any ideas.

I am going to try running the install with the -v switch to see if that works

The thing is earlier in the day I had it running after installing it off this same disk but my graphics card did not work correctly so switched to the onboard and it then would noot boot after that, so now trying to reinstall with the onboard active and being used

cheers

Mike

I have this same problem except my mouse cursor DOES show up. I have tried using several differnt OS-X 86 versions and always get this result. Here are my specs

Motherboard - DFI 865PE-TAG

Memory - Patriot 3200 (2 x 512)

HD - (2) 100GB ATA

Video - ATI Radeon x850

Processor - Pentium 4 630 Prescott

I appreciate any advice

well I have a few versions in my posetion

I have

version 10.4.4

version 10.4.6

version JAS 10.4.8

and

version UPhuck 10.4.9

I get differnt results with differnt verions

version 10.4.4 - Boots of the CD and does the above, sits at the blue screen with no cursor

version 10.4.6 - Boots of the CD and does the above, sits at the blue screen with no cursor

version JAS 10.4.8 - Boots of the CD installs and completes, then on loading shows the grey screen with the spinning lines and then goes to a blue screen with no mouse cursor

and

version UPhuck 10.4 - Boots of the CD installs and completes, then on loading shows the grey screen with the spinning lines and then goes to a blue screen with no mouse cursor.

The {censored} thing is I had it working this morning but my ATI radeon x330 pci express card is not supported by osx and I only get 1024*768 res, where as the onboard should go higher. So i swapped over the cards in the BIOS and rebootted and it hung at the blue screen even after a few restarts.

GRRRR

Its so anoying

Here's the solution, when i got it i was really pissed of swearing at my x86 pc!!OK, Pressuming you guys have a laptop1. Get a staple, leave 1 end like it is and bend the other 1 out2. Cut the side out which was unstreched and make it equal to the other 13. Look at the mini-diagram saying M: put the pin in from 2 last hole (on the bottom row) to the last one on the middle row. I have a wee update, i tried my 10.4.4 disk and it ran, but it was slow as hell, the mouse pointer was taking ages to move across the screen to click continue etc, gave up before I got to teh disk utitity

switch acpi or PM off in bios, try booting it with single cpu mode, make sure plug and play OS is switched off in bios.

Or it's a problem with you'r BIOS setting or VGA graphics card, Search the forum

_______________

1. At the darwin boot menu press F8 then type Platform=X86PC i know it's meant to speed up but it worked for me (Then hit ENTER)

2. At darwin boot menu type Graphicsmode="1280x800x16"

I tried changing a few bios settings, booting with the options you provided etc. None of these options worked. I will try using a different video card in the morning. I appreciate all of the help.

Im not sure if this would be of any help, but I keep getting this message: Error: USB Notification: The device "EHCI Rest Hub Simulator" 0xfd000000 has caused an overcurrent condition. The hub it is attached to has been disabled
