I have a few intermittent problems which i cant make sense of. Firstly once i have used the cd in the drive i cant eject it. the button on the drive wont work and also the software eject option, whichever one i use, wont eject the disc and the disc stays on the desktop. sometimes after using a piece of software, sometimes itunes others finder, other times safari. the menu bar for that software stays at the top and any other program refuses to open. I'm at a loss on this. any advice?

To Eject Press and hold F12 or drag the CD to where the trash is and it will turn in to and eject button.

Click the desktop and the Finder bar will go back to normal

the point i am making is what you have said is what i know to be the case when the machine is working correctly. i have tried those other 2 ways of ejecting and when the system doesn't want to do it then it wont. only way to eject is to reboot. also when i got the lock up i described earlier then clicking on the desktop to make the top bar go back to normal simply doesn't work.

 

I have now noticed that on safari it is not displaying video from some websites when explaining about software for instance. I am getting the sound but no picture. its very strange. some sites are even telling me to upgrade my browser to safari 2.01 or higher even tho i am running ver 3. can anyone explain these things?
