0ldsch00lpunk
I loaded 10.4.9 both as an upgrade (failed miserably) and as a clean install on an IBM Netvista 6792 (desktop machine). The clean install appeared to go just fine but on reboot I got the flashing cursor. I used the suggested partition manager (Gnome Partition) to set the partition active and bootable deleted a 200MB Fat partition that for some reason showed up but I can't seem to get the partiton to register as /dev/hda1 instead of /dev/hda2 after doing the changes. I assume I'm doing something wrong or I'm using the wrong software. Can someone please point me in the right direction? I have a desktop machine and a laptop I'm trying to get running for a work project and would like to finish it off as soon as possible. I'm new to this forum BTW and you've all accomplished an incredible amount of developement with what appears to be limited access to source code and hardware references. Bravo..... TIA 0ldsch00lpunk
0ldsch00lpunk
I found out what I was doing wrong. Had I read all the instructions a little more carefully I'd have had my answer. I changed the partitioning scheme and all is good. Hope I provided a little humor in your day. 0ldsch00lpunk
