Hi all,

I just got JaS OSX 10.4.8 installed on my Dell Dimension E510. It seems blazing fast too, btw. Now on to working out all the kinks  Using one of the tutorials, I got my Intel Pro 10/100 VE Built-in Ethernet to show up in System info and whatnot, but I still can't connect to the internet...Network Diagnostics shows Built-in Ethernet and Network Settings with green lights, but ISP, Internet and Server are red and say Failed. I'm connected to a Netgear router connected to cable internet. The rest of the computers in the house connect fine. Tried resetting the router and restarting the Dell to no avail. Any ideas?

Thanks!

hey dude... whats up... let me ask you something? are you dual booting with XP or Vista?

Is your router set up to supply the IP address automatically using DHCP?

Also make sure APPLE is set to connect using DHCP...

see if that helps...

Hey,

Yeah, I'm dual booting with XP. I'm not sure if its set up to automatically us DHCP, I know it automatically gets one in Windows.

I actually went to Target last night and bought a $20 Linksys ethernet card and installed the patch for it and it worked right away, so I assume the router/OSX is configured correctly though...

Next up is video, tried a couple things last night to no avail...Looks trickier, I'm sure I'll have fun with it haha

i know this will sound to simple, but on my mac, if i dont set it to DSL connection in network diagnostics, it will not connect.. if select cable or network, i will not be able to get out to the internet... try that select cable internet even though you have a router... (i do to)
